A doctor who practised at a health facility in Yorkton, Sask., has been charged with six counts of sexual assault.

RCMP announced the charges against Mohammed Haque, 72, on Thursday.

It’s alleged there were six victims, all adult women, and that the offences occurred at the medical facility.

Haque, who was arrested in London, Ont., is scheduled to appear in Yorkton provincial court on Feb. 22.

RCMP said their investigation began in 2001 when a woman came forward with a complaint alleging sexual assault. Police said that over the course of the next seven years, 12 women approached officials with similar complaints.

Yorkton is a city of about 16,000 people located about 300 kilometres southeast of Saskatoon.
